Participant Packing List
You don’t need to have everything perfect. This is simply a guide to help you feel comfortable and prepared for the weekend.
🎒 Bag
Bring whatever you have:
☐ Backpack / Duffle bag / Small suitcase
🏕 Equipment & Sleep
(My rental package includes a tent, groundsheet, sleeping pad, sleeping bag and camp chair)
☐ Tent (3-season is fine)
☐ Groundsheet (optional - though it prevents wear and tear on the bottom of your tent and assists in keeping it dry)
☐ Sleeping pad (for comfort and insulation. I recommend something inflatable rather than a thin foam mat - or both!)
☐ Sleeping bag (recommended comfort rating: -7°C to +0°C)
☐ Pillow (this can be you regular pillow from home)
☐ Camp chair (it doesn’t need to be fancy)
Alternative option:
If you don’t have a sleeping bag, it’s possible to use a duvet and blankets, but they won’t be as warm and you may get them a little dirty.
Optional:
☐ Sleeping bag liner (to keep your sleeping bag clean and add a little extra warmth)
☐ Eye mask (so the sun doesn’t wake you up first thing)
☐ Ear plugs (highly recommended if you’re a light sleeper like me)
☐ Bed socks (a warm clean pair just to sleep in)
👕 Clothing
Wear whatever feels comfortable. If possible, avoid cotton as it takes longer to dry. Remember we’re camping so you don’t need to wear fresh clothes each day. I’d recommend bringing one set of clothes to travel to and from the event in and 1 set of clothes for the weekend. You don’t need to bring everything on this list. Please email me if you have any questions (rozanne@rozannepilbeam.com).
☐ Underwear & socks (2 pairs)
☐ Bra (something comfortable)
☐ T-shirts / Singlet Tops (1-2)
☐ Long-sleeved base layer (2 - merino wool works best. One to sleep in and one for daytime).
☐ Fleece (1)
☐ Puffer Jacket (1)
☐ Rain jacket (1)
☐ Shorts (1)
☐ Lightweight pants (1)
☐ Leggings (1) - to wear to bed or under your pants if it’s cold at night.
☐ Comfortable shoes (sneakers, trail runners, Blundstones - anything close-toed and comfortable)
☐ Camp sandals (crocs / flip flops - something that is easy to slide on and off)
☐ Sun Hat
☐ Sunglasses
☐ Small towel
☐ Toque/Beanie
☐ Gloves
☐ Bandana (to hold back your hair, sleep mask alternative, and to test filtering water)
Optional:
☐ Dress / Skirt / Blouse (or any piece of clothing or outfit that makes you feel beautiful / feminine / free)
💧 Water
☐ Water bottle (1–2 litres)
🍫 Food & Snacks
Basic vegetarian meals will be provided, but please bring:
☐ Plastic plate, bowl and a mug or thermos for tea and coffee (can be from the Dollar Store)
☐ Knife, fork and spoon (can be from home)
☐ Small tea towel to dry your dishes
Optional:
☐ Snacks you enjoy (just be sure to store these in your vehicle or give them to me to store safely during the weekend).
☐ Anything that helps you feel more comfortable
🧴 Toiletries & Personal Items
☐ Toothbrush & toothpaste
☐ Sunscreen
☐ Bug repellent
☐ Lip balm
☐ Hand sanitiser
☐ Personal medication
Optional:
☐ Wet wipes (good shower and toilet paper alternative as long as you pack them out)
☐ Pee rag (a cloth or bandana you can do a quick wipe with when peeing in the woods)
☐ Moisturises and other personal products
☐ Mosquito head net (if you have one and plan to sleep under the stars all evening)
Important Note:
Avoid wearing or bringing strong scented items including perfume or scented deodorant as these can attract unwanted wildlife. If you do, please ensure these are stored in your vehicle at all times.
🔦 Essentials
☐ Head torch or flashlight (there is no electricity onsite)
☐ Phone (for emergencies and photos — we’ll mostly be offline)
☐ Power bank to charge your phone (optional)
☐ Wrist watch (or something to tell the time with if you want to keep your phone off)
☐ Umbrella (just in case it does rain)
Optional:
☐ Book or personal journal
☐ Zip lock bags (to keep your phone and other electronics dry if it rains)
☐ Emergency Whistle (I’ll have some on hand, but if you have one, it’s a great idea to bring)
☐ Bear spray (only if you want and it makes you feel more comfortable)
💡 A note on gear
If you’ve selected the gear rental option, your tent, groundsheet, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, and camp chair will be provided.
If you’re bringing your own gear and aren’t sure if it’s suitable, please email me any questions: rozanne@rozannepilbeam.com.
🌿 Final note
You don’t need to get this perfect.
The goal is to arrive feeling comfortable enough to begin. We’ll take care of the rest together!
